25 new COVID cases reported in Lethbridge, 396 provincially

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released Friday’s report on COVID-19, covering statistics compiled over the past 24 hours.

396 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 126,068. Of those, 6,407 cases are active while 117,968 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, 34 people tested positive with Lethbridge’s 25 making up the vast majority.

This has lead to active infections in the city rising by 22 and regionally by 15.

Since yesterday’s update, eight Albertans died from COVID including four in the Edmonton Zone and two each in the Calgary and Central Zones. To date, the virus has claimed the lives of 1,693 Albertans.

Provincially, 475 patients are currently hospitalized and 89 have been admitted to intensive care.

With another 9,989 tests completed in the past day, there has now been a total of 3,223,404 tests conducted on 1,768,327 different people.

114,066 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered across the province to date.

Below is a breakdown of cases per health zone:

• Edmonton Zone – 51,992 cases, 2,051 active
  • 194 in hospital, 30 in ICU
  • 879 deaths (four new)
• Calgary Zone – 48,470 cases, 2,598 active
  • 162 in hospital, 36 in ICU
  • 528 deaths (two new)
• North Zone – 10,431 cases, 809 active
  • 56 in hospital, eight in ICU
  • 115 deaths
• Central Zone – 9,086 cases, 642 active
  • 31 in hospital, six in ICU
  • 96 deaths (two new)
• South Zone – 5,968 cases, 303 active
  • 32 in hospital, nine in ICU
  • 74 deaths

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone:

• Brooks – 1,364 cases (one new), two active, 14 deaths
• Lethbridge – 1,779 cases (25 new), 164 active, 13 deaths
  • West Lethbridge – 626 cases (two new), 37 active, two deaths
  • South Lethbridge – 623 cases (20 new), 80 active, 10 deaths
  • North Lethbridge – 529 cases (two new), 44 active, one death
• Medicine Hat – 530 cases (three new), 12 active, 14 deaths
• Lethbridge County – 519 cases (three new), 21 active, seven deaths
• Cardston County – 505 cases (one new), 66 active, seven deaths
• M.D. of Taber – 332 cases (one new), four active, six deaths
• M.D. of Pincher Creek – 187 cases, 19 active, four deaths
• County of Warner – 158 cases (one new), two active, two deaths
• County of Newell – 158 cases, two active, two deaths
• Cypress County – 145 cases, two active, zero deaths
• County of Forty Mile – 117 cases, zero active, two deaths
