LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge School Division has been notified of positive COVID cases at a school in the city’s west end.

Three infections have been reported at Dr. Gerald B. Probe Elementary School. The division could not say whether the infected individuals were staff members and/or students.

As a result of this, the Medical Officer of Health has started an investigation.

Public Health staff are investigating to determine who may have been exposed as part of the contact tracing process. Close contacts will be notified via email and will be required to quarantine for at least 14 days.

“If you are not contacted, your child is not a close contact and can attend school as usual, following all public health guidance,” the division said in a letter sent to members of the Dr. Gerald B. Probe Elementary community.

The school’s custodial staff has been directed to conduct enhanced cleaning.

The school schedule will proceed as normal on Monday, Feb. 8 and the division stated that the risk of infection to the general population at the school is low.
