269 new COVID cases in Alberta, seven in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released its update on COVID-19 for Monday, covering statistics compiled over the past 24 hours.

269 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 127,036. Of those, 6,196 cases are active while 119,130 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, 11 people tested positive including seven in Lethbridge.

Active infections in the city and regionally remained relatively flat.

Since yesterday’s update, two Albertans died from COVID with both being in the Edmonton Zone. To date, 1,710 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

Provincially, 432 patients are currently hospitalized and 76 have been admitted to intensive care.

With another 6,184 tests conducted over the past day, there has now been a total of 3,250,517 tests completed on 1,775,475 different people.

120,357 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta. More than 29,000 Albertans have received the recommended two doses.

Since Friday, 25 new cases of the COVID-19 variants were confirmed. So far, 96 cases of B.1.1.7, the variant originating in the U.K., have been identified. 46 of those have no known link to travel.

Below is a breakdown of cases per provincial health zone:

  • Edmonton Zone – 52,211 cases, 1,870 active
    • 161 in hospital, 23 in ICU
    • 890 deaths (two new)
  • Calgary Zone – 48,836 cases, 2,463 active
    • 154 in hospital, 32 in ICU
    • 532 deaths
  • North Zone – 10,587 cases, 834 active
    • 53 in hospital, seven in ICU
    • 117 deaths
  • Central Zone – 9,247 cases, 689 active
    • 33 in hospital, four in ICU
    • 97 deaths
  • South Zone – 6,028 cases, 319 active
    • 31 in hospital, 10 in ICU
    • 74 deaths

  • Brooks – 1,365 cases (one new), five active, 14 deaths
  • Lethbridge – 1,812 cases (seven new), 177 active, 13 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 638 cases (one new), 41 active, two deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 634 cases (four new), 80 active, 10 deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 539 cases (two new), 53 active, one death
  • Medicine Hat – 534 cases (two new), 14 active, 14 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 518 cases, 11 active, seven deaths
  • Cardston County – 514 cases (one new), 66 active, seven deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 332 cases, four active, six deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 198 cases, 25 active, four deaths
  • County of Newell – 158 cases, two active, two deaths
  • County of Warner – 157 cases, one active, two deaths
  • Cypress County – 145 cases, two active, zero deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 117 cases, zero active, two deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 94 cases, two active, three deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – 24 cases, five active, zero deaths
