Municipal Development Plan public hearing date set for March 1-5

LETHBRIDGE, AB– Lethbridge’s new and updated Municipal Development Plan (MDP) Bylaw 6265 has been submitted to be reviewed and considered for approval by Lethbridge City Council.

At Tuesday’s council meeting the first reading of Bylaw 6265 was passed, making the next step a pubic hearing.

The public hearing is scheduled from March 1-5 which will allow Council to listen to the public’s feedback and ask clarifying questions.

Any changes to be made to the MDP may be made during second and third reading, which will be scheduled at a later date.

The following topics will be discussed on the following dates:

Monday, March 1, 2021 – Document sections 1-4 (MDP Background and Community Profile); a portion of document section 5 (Local Economy Policies)

Tuesday, March 2, 2021 – Portion of document section 5 (Arts Culture And Heritage, Community Wellbeing, Relationships Policies)

Wednesday, March 3, 2021 – Portion of document section 5 (Places, Housing Policies)

Thursday, March 4, 2021 – Portion of document section 5 (Transportation, Utilities and Servicing Policies)

Friday, March 5, 2021 – Portion of document section 5 (Environment Policies); document section 6 (Implementation); document section 7 (Appendices: (Glossary, Guide to Reserves, Policy and Outcome Relationship, Development History, and Data Notes).

On March 5, the public is also welcome to make presentations on previously discussed items.
