Feb 17, 2021 | 1:30 PM

INNISFAIL, AB – The next generation of K-9 cops are here… they just need to know what their names are.

Alberta RCMP is asking young Albertans to give names to their 13 German Shepherd puppies at the Police Dog Service Training Centre (PDSTC) in Innisfail.

For the 2021 Name the Puppy Contest, children aged four to 14 are encouraged to be original and imaginative in finding names that will serve the puppies as they enter their careers in Canada’s national police force.

The names must begin with the letter “P,” have no more than nine letters, and be one or two syllables.

Contestants must live in Canada. Only one entry per child will be eligible.

The winning names will be chosen by PDSTC staff.

Children who submit winning names will receive a laminated 8×10 photo of the dog they named, a plush dog named Justice, and an RCMP water bottle.

The deadline to enter the contest is April 28, 2021. You can enter here.
