Lethbridge only South Zone community with new COVID cases Thursday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released its update on COVID-19 for Thursday, covering statistics compiled over the previous 24 hours.

399 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 132,432. Of those, 4,484 cases are active while 126,074 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, 11 people tested positive, all 11 cases were in Lethbridge. Active infections in the city and regionally remained relatively flat.

Since yesterday’s update, eight Albertans died from COVID including one from the South Zone. To date, the virus has claimed 1,874 lives in Alberta.

Provincially, 280 patients are currently hospitalized including 56 who have been admitted to intensive care.

With another 9,217 tests completed over the past day, there has now been a total of 3,378,594 tests conducted on 1,813,521 different people.

195,572 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta as of the end of February 24.

Below is a breakdown of cases per regional health zone:

  • Edmonton Zone – 53,453 cases, 897 active
    • 82 in hospital, 18 in ICU
    • 967 deaths (four new)
  • Calgary Zone – 50,724 cases, 1,510 active
    • 100 in hospital, 15 in ICU
    • 577 deaths (two new)
  • North Zone – 11,659 cases, 1,016 active
    • 40 in hospital, three in ICU
    • 135 deaths
  • Central Zone – 10,071 cases, 737 active
    • 32 in hospital, 10 in ICU
    • 105 deaths
  • South Zone – 6,425 cases, 319 active
    • 26 in hospital, 10 in ICU
    • 89 deaths (one new)

  • Brooks – 1,362 cases, one active, 14 deaths
  • Lethbridge – 2,057 cases (11 new), 189 active, 20 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 700 cases (six new), 47 active, two deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 699 cases, 56 active, 16 deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 657 cases (five new), 86 active, two deaths
  • Cardston County – 595 cases, 64 active, 11 deaths (one new)
  • Medicine Hat – 552 cases, 19 active, 16 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 541 cases, 19 active, seven deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 337 cases, five active, six deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 215 cases, 13 active, four deaths
  • County of Warner – 162 cases, three active, three deaths
  • County of Newell – 159 cases, one active, two deaths
  • Cypress County – 145 cases, two active, zero deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 117 cases, zero active, two deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 100 cases, four active, four deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – 24 cases, zero active, zero deaths
