291 new COVID cases in Alberta Monday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released its update on COVID-19 for Monday, covering statistics compiled over the previous 24 hours.

291 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 133,795. Of those, 4,674 cases are active while 127,233 people have recovered.

In Lethbridge, 26 new cases were identified. Active infections remained flat in Lethbridge and increased slightly regionally.

Since yesterday’s update, two Albertans died from COVID. To date, 1,888 people in Alberta died from the virus.

Provincially, 257 patients are currently hospitalized including 48 who have been admitted to intensive care.

227,678 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta as of the end of February 27.

With another 5,933 tests conducted over the past day, there has now been a total of 3,418,308 tests completed on 1,822,163 different people.

449 variants have been identified in the province to date, with 27 new identified on February 28.

  • Edmonton Zone – 53,807 cases, 1,014 active
    • 69 in hospital, 16 in ICU
    • 970 deaths
  • Calgary Zone – 51,189 cases, 1,562 active
    • 102 in hospital, 14 in ICU
    • 581 deaths (one new)
  • North Zone – 11,952 cases, 1,084 active
    • 25 in hospital, one in ICU
    • 136 deaths (one new)
  • Central Zone – 10,198 cases, 672 active
    • 33 in hospital, 10 in ICU
    • 111 deaths
  • South Zone – 6,541 cases, 328 active
    • 28 in hospital, seven in ICU
    • 90 deaths

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone:

  • Brooks – 1,362 cases, one active, 14 deaths
  • Lethbridge – 2,137 cases (26 new), 199 active, 20 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 718 cases (four new), 50 active, two deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 728 cases (nine new), 59 active, 16 deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 690 cases (13 new), 90 active, two deaths
  • Cardston County – 615 cases, 70 active, 11 deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 556 cases (two new), 20 active, 17 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 547 cases (two new), 17 active, seven deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 340 cases, six active, six deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 217 cases, eight active, four deaths
  • County of Warner – 162 cases, zero active, three deaths
  • County of Newell – 159 cases, zero active, two deaths
  • Cypress County – 145 cases, one active, zero deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 117 cases, zero active, two deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 101 cases, four active, four deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – 24 cases, zero active, zero deaths
