LETHBRIDGE, AB – A Lethbridge-born Hurricane is lending a helping hand to the fight against cancer.

17-year-old Zack Stringer of the Lethbridge Hurricanes will donate $5 for every goal he scores during the 2020-2021 regular season to the Canadian Cancer Society.

“I’ve decided to donate to the Canadian Cancer Society in honour of my dad,” Stringer said.

“He unfortunately passed from cancer at a young age, so it is an honour to do this in his memory.”

Stringer was drafted by the ‘Canes eighth overall in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft. In 2019-2020, he skated in 48 games where he recorded 34 points, scoring 11 goals in the process.

“My family and friends are behind me doing this for a great cause,” he added.

“To try and help others during their fight means a lot to me and my family.”

Any fans who would like to join Stringer in his fundraising efforts can make a one-time donation here, or can sign up to match his donation per goal by contacting the Lethbridge Hurricanes at admin@lethbridgehurricanes.com.
