All 17 new COVID cases in South Zone from Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released its update on COVID-19 for Tuesday, covering statistics compiled over the previous 24 hours.

257 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 134,052. Of those, 4,631 cases are active while 127,531 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, 17 people tested positive, all of whom are from Lethbridge.

That has lead to active infections in the city rising by 11 and by five across the region.

Since yesterday’s update, two Albertans died from COVID including one each from the Central and North zones. To date, the virus has claimed the lives of 1,890.

Provincially, 261 patients are currently hospitalized including 54 who have been admitted to intensive care.

With another 5,864 tests conducted over the past day, there has now been a total of 3,424,190 tests completed on 1,823,932 different people.

245,054 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta as of the end of March 1. Approximately 156,000 have received one dose and 88,000 have gotten two.

Another 35 cases of COVID-19 variants have been confirmed in the province. To date, none have been in the South Zone.

Below is a breakdown of cases per regional health zone:

  • Edmonton Zone – 53,882 cases, 1,030 active
    • 76 in hospital, 18 in ICU
    • 970 deaths
  • Calgary Zone – 51,296 cases, 1,560 active
    • 98 in hospital, 17 in ICU
    • 581 deaths
  • North Zone – 11,992 cases, 1,061 active
    • 26 in hospital, one in ICU
    • 137 deaths (one new)
  • Central Zone – 10,219 cases, 636 active
    • 33 in hospital, 11 in ICU
    • 112 deaths (one new)
  • South Zone – 6,558 cases, 333 active
    • 28 in hospital, seven in ICU
    • 90 deaths

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone:

  • Brooks – 1,362 cases, one active, 14 deaths
  • Lethbridge – 2,154 cases (17 new), 210 active, 20 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 720 cases (two new), 49 active, two deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 734 cases (six new), 63 active, 16 deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 699 cases (nine new), 98 active, two deaths
  • Cardston County – 615 cases, 68 active, 11 deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 556 cases, 20 active, 17 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 547 cases, 16 active, seven deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 340 cases, six active, six deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 217 cases, eight active, four deaths
  • County of Warner – 162 cases, zero active, three deaths
  • County of Newell – 159 cases, zero active, two deaths
  • Cypress County – 145 cases, one active, zero deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 117 cases, zero active, two deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 101 cases, five active, four deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – 24 cases, zero active, zero deaths
