Repeat offender charged with drug-related offenses

LETHBRIDGE, AB– A Lethbridge man has been charged with multiple, drug-related offenses.

Repeat offender Jeffrey Steven Martens, 52, has been charged with:

  • Two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of the proceeds of crime
  • Two counts of failing to comply with a release order

Police arrested Martens in the 500-block of 5 Street South and found him in possession of 10.3 grams of methamphetamine, 2.3 grams of fentanyl, 0.4 grams of cocaine, and almost $700 in cash.

Members of the LPS observed an individual engage in alleged drug trafficking activity at locations in north Lethbridge, the downtown core, and the area of the homeless shelter.

In January 2020, Martens was arrested on two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, four counts of possession of identity documents, and one count of possession of stolen property.

Martens, who was twice charged by LPS for drug-related offenses in 2020, has been remanded in custody to appear in court March 8, 2021.
