LETHBRIDGE, AB– Lethbridge City Council has passed the motion to recognize April 7th as “Green Shirt Day” in Lethbridge in honour of Logan Boulet and to remember the Humbolt Broncos bus crash.

“This isn’t just a day, this is a cause,” Mayor Chris Spearman added saying he supports this cause to remember what happened on April 6th 2018, and Boulet’s impact on organ donation.

Boulet succumbed to his injuries from the crash but his parents, Bernadine and Toby Boulet offered to donate his organs so that six lives could live on.

They did so because Logan told his parents he was registering as an organ donor and that he was inspired by his coach and mentor Ric Suggitt.

Suggitt who was also an organ donor passed away but saved 6 lives in doing so with organ donation.

Coming up on the third anniversary of the crash, the city officially deemed Aril 7th as Green Shirt Day at the city council meeting on March 9.

“Six lives were saved by Logan donating his organs,” says Councillor Blaine Hyggen, who brought the resolution forward. “Because of his selfless act, it is estimated that almost 150,000 people registered to become organ donors in the days and weeks that followed.”

To date, this is the largest number of Canadians registering to become organ donors in Canadian History due to one event and one person.
