LETHBRIDGE, AB – Similar to what we saw when the first group of seniors became eligible for COVID-19 vaccines, a large number of Albertans took to the AHS website and Health Link phone lines Wednesday morning.

At 8:00 am, two groups of people were able to book appointments – all Albertans born in 1957 and all First Nations, Metis, and Inuit born in 1972.

Just three hours later, Alberta Health Services (AHS) says 10,000 people reserved their spots for the Covishield/AstraZeneca vaccine.

Pending the arrivals of more doses, Albertans born in 1958-1971 will have the chance to book an appointment in the coming days.

For those who choose not to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine, people in this group will likely be able to get vaccinated through the other suppliers sometime in May.

COVID-19 vaccine appointments can be booked through the AHS online booking tool or by phoning Health Link at 811.
