MEDICINE HAT, AB – MacKenzie Porter has snagged a nomination at the 2021 Juno Awards.

The Medicine Hat artist’s album, Drinkin’ Songs: The Collection, is nominated for Country Album of the Year.

On a Facebook story, Porter said she is “so, so pumped” and called her fellow nominees “amazing people and incredibly talented.”

Jade Eagleson’s self-titled album, Lindsay Ell’s Heart Theory, Dallas Smith’s Timeless, and Tenille Townes’ The Lemonade Stand are also contending for the award.

Reacting to the nomination, Porter took note of the other females in the category.

“The coolest thing is, out of the five people in the category, three are females and I just feel like that’s very fitting after International Women’s Day.”

Porter also joked about how she would celebrate.

“What time is it? Can I crack open a bottle of wine yet? Maybe I’ll just spike my coffee.”

In the past, Porter has been nominated six times for CCMA Awards and has been nominated previously by the Junos.

Her hit song These Days (Remix) went certified platinum.

Calgary’s Tate McCrae is up for Breakthrough Artist of the Year.

The 2021 Juno Awards takes place Monday, June 29.
