Canes pick up first win of season, 7-4 over Red Deer

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes have registered their first point in the win column.

Facing the Rebels in Red Deer, the Canes came out victorious 7-4.

The three stars of the game were:

  1. ‘Canes – #26 Chase Wheatcroft (two goals)
  2. Rebels – #16 Carter Anderson (one goal)
  3. ‘Canes – #35 Carl Tetachuk (24 saves)

Lethbridge’s Alex Cotton first hit the net just 2:37 in thanks to assists from Alex Thacker and Zack Stringer.

The final five minutes of the first period were eventful as Stringer, Jett Jones, and Liam Kindree hit the net.

The second period saw Wheatcroft score twice while Jones scored his second goal near the end of the third period.

After Friday’s game, Lethbridge’s record improved to 1-2-0-0 on the season.

This was just the first contest in a three-game series with Red Deer this weekend.

They play at the ENMAX Centre Saturday at 6:00 pm then return to Red Deer at the same time on Sunday.

Due to public health restrictions, fans are not allowed to attend in person.
