City allowing fitness classes in Lethbridge parks

LETHBRIDGE, AB– With summer peeking around the corner, city parks in Lethbridge are opening to businesses holding outdoor fitness classes.

The City of Lethbridge has compiled online information and guidelines for anyone wishing to use city parks for this purpose.

Space in the parks is not reserved and “any fitness classes must be flexible to work around others who may be using the parks or parks maintenance such as mowing or watering,” the city says.

Anyone wishing to hold a fitness class in a city park must have a City of Lethbridge business license and insurance to do so.

The city also says any classes taking place in the River Valley should be compatible with the natural environment they are occurring in.

To preserve the wildlife in the parks, “activities taking place must remain on existing trails or established pathways, should avoid flattening native plant populations, and does not disturb or remove wildlife,” the release reads.

Businesses interested in hosting classes in a city park can submit their plans to leisure@lethbridge.ca.
