Canes score 4-3 overtime win over Red Deer

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes have won their second contest in as many days.

With the home-field advantage at the ENMAX Centre Saturday, the Canes came out victorious against the Red Deer Rebels.

Justin Hall was the first to hit the net for Lethbridge just four minutes in.

The Rebels then took a commanding lead early on, bringing the game to 3-1 by the six-minute mark of the second period.

Lethbridge rallied back with two goals in the second period from Alex Thacker and Justin Hall to even things up.

53 seconds into overtime, Alex Cotton scored the game-winning shot thanks to assists from Dino Kambeitz and Logan Barlage.

Canes goalie Carl Tetachuk stopped 22 out of 25 shots on net.

Hall was named the first Star of the Game, having scored twice for Lethbridge while Thacker was also recognized as the second star.

Saturday’s game marked Hall’s 50th point in his WHL career.

Lethbridge is now up 2-0 in their three-game series with Red Deer.

Friday’s game saw the Hurricanes dominate the Rebels 7-4.

The teams clash one more time at 6:00 pm on Sunday in Red Deer.
