LETHBRIDGE, AB – Both of the city’s school boards are announcing new cases of COVID-19.

St. Francis goes digital:

At St. Francis Junior High School, they will be requiring all students to partake in online classes from Monday, March 15 to Thursday, March 18.

Friday, March 19 is a PD day.

There are currently five active cases at the school. This has forced 41 per cent of students, half of teachers, and 44 percent of support staff to self-isolate.

“With this number of staff required to be out of school, St. Francis Junior High School is not able to adequately deliver educational programming at the school at this time in a safe and efficient manner. Furthermore, substitute teachers are simply not available,” reads a statement from the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division.

Students will be required to attend classes online in the same way that was done at the end of 2020.

New cases in Lethbridge School Division:

AHS has confirmed three new cases of COVID-19 at Wilson Middle School, meaning there are now 11 active cases there.

Wilson remains on outbreak status.

A seventh infection has been confirmed at Winston Churchill High School, meaning it too is on outbreak status.

The Lethbridge School Division is also notifying parents about a third case at Ecole Agnes Davidson.

AHS is currently conducting investigations into all three schools. Any affected persons have been or will be notified and directed to self-isolate.
