Lethbridge sees 46 new COVID cases Monday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released its update on COVID-19 for Monday, covering statistics compiled over the past 24 hours.

364 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 138,788. Of those, 4,811 cases are active while 132,028 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, 57 people tested positive with 46 of those coming from Lethbridge.

Active infections in the city increased by 32 and regionally by 43.

This means that Lethbridge has almost 10 per cent of all active cases in Alberta with only a bit more than two per cent of the population.

Since yesterday’s update, three Albertans died from COVID including one each in the South, Edmonton, and Calgary Zones. To date, 1,949 Albertans have died as a result of the virus.

The death in the South Zone was for a man in his 60s of the County of Forty Mile. His death is not linked to any outbreaks but the matter does include comorbidities.

Provincially, 255 patients are currently hospitalized including 42 who have been admitted to intensive care.

With another 6,618 tests conducted over the past day, there has now been a total of 3,536,280 tests completed on 1,855,955 different people.

368,124 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta as of the end of March 14.

Since yesterday’s report, 65 new cases of the U.K variant of COVID were confirmed in Alberta including two in the South Zone.

Below is a breakdown of cases per regional health zone:

  • Edmonton Zone – 54,992 cases, 1,160 active
    • 85 in hospital, 12 in ICU
    • 993 deaths (one new)
  • Calgary Zone – 53,028 cases, 1,779 active
    • 86 in hospital, 19 in ICU
    • 596 deaths (one new)
  • North Zone – 12,837 cases, 818 active
    • 29 in hospital, two in ICU
    • 141 deaths
  • Central Zone – 10,687 cases, 460 active
    • 25 in hospital, five in ICU
    • 120 deaths
  • South Zone – 7,133 cases, 588 active
    • 30 in hospital, four in ICU
    • 99 deaths (one new)

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone:

  • Brooks – 1,365 cases, two active, 14 deaths
  • Lethbridge – 2,586 cases (46 new), 447 active, 25 deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 885 cases (22 new), 197 active, four deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 867 cases (17 new), 136 active, 19 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 834 cases (nine new), 115 active, two deaths
  • Cardston County – 689 cases (five new), 76 active, 13 deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 566 cases (one new), nine active, 17 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 559 cases, 12 active, seven deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 344 cases (two new), five active, six deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 234 cases (two new), 17 active, five deaths
  • County of Warner – 172 cases (two new), 10 active, three deaths
  • County of Newell – 160 cases, one active, two deaths
  • Cypress County – 146 cases, one active, zero deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 119 cases, two active, three deaths (one new)
