Police lay drug-related charges after traffic stop

LETHBRIDGE, AB– Lethbridge Police have charged a driver with drug-related and other offenses following a traffic stop on Tuesday, March 16, 2021.

Around 3:30 am, LPS stopped a vehicle westbound on Whoop-Up Drive on a traffic incident. The driver was then arrested for failure to comply with release conditions.

Police searched the vehicle and seized:

  • 26 grams of fentanyl
  • 22.4 grams of methamphetamine, with a total value of about $11,700.
  • $900 in cash
  • Other drug paraphernalia.

Baltazar Martinez, 41, of Lethbridge was charged with:

  • two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • one count of possession of stolen property
  • one count of failure to comply with release conditions.

Police say Martinez was charged previously this month on drug-related charges and failed to comply with release conditions.

Martinez was remanded in custody to appear in court on March 18, 2021.
