Father & son charged with weapons-related offenses in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Police have put two people behind bars on a series of charges related to firearms.

They were investigating the theft of firearms from a gun safe on the west side and executed a search warrant on Tuesday.

A handgun with ammunition was seized from a home on the 200 block of Jerry Potts Boulevard West. The serial number on the gun had been defaced.

Kevin Eresman, 47, and his son Gage Eresman, 23, have been charged with offenses including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of an unauthorized firearm with ammunition, possession of a firearm as a result of another Criminal Code offense, and altering, defacing, or removing the serial number of a firearm.

Kevin also faces four counts of failing to comply with release order conditions and two counts of possession of firearms contrary to a prohibition order.

Gage has additional charges including operating a motor vehicle while prohibited. He remains in custody

They both remain in custody while awaiting bail hearings.

Two additional stolen handguns have not been recovered.

The investigation is ongoing and police say there could be additional charges.
