668 new COVID cases in Alberta Saturday

EDMONTON, AB– Alberta Health Services has released its update on COVID-19 for Saturday, covering statistics compiled over the past 24 hours.

668 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 145,696. Of those, 7,366 cases are active while 136,350.

In the South Zone, 64 people tested positive including 34 in Lethbridge.

Since yesterday’s update, one Albertan died from COVID, to date, 1,979 Albertans have lost their lives as a result of the virus.

Provincially, 283 patients are currently hospitalized including 65 who have been admitted to intensive care.

577,223 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta as of the end of March 26.

Appointments for COVID-19 vaccines can be booked using the online tool or by phoning Health Link at 811.

With another 11,522 tests completed over the past day, there has now been a total of 3,664,180 tests conducted on 1,893,328 different people.

207 new variant cases were detected over the past 24 hours bringing the total to date up to 2,833.

Below is a breakdown of cases per regional health zone:

• Edmonton Zone – 56,457 cases, 1,624 active
  • 87 in hospital, 18 in ICU
  • 1,006 deaths (one new)
• Calgary Zone – 56,230 cases, 3,407 active
  • 103 in hospital, 25 in ICU
  • 602 deaths
• North Zone – 13,648 cases, 830 active
  • 26 in hospital, six in ICU
  • 145 deaths
• Central Zone – 11,341 cases, 670 active
  • 33 in hospital, six in ICU
  • 122 deaths
• South Zone – 7,877 cases, 805 active
  • 34 in hospital, 10 in ICU
  • 105 deaths

• Lethbridge – 3,044 cases (34 new), 506 active, 30 deaths
  • North Lethbridge – 1,085 cases (20 new), 210 active, six deaths
  • West Lethbridge – 989 cases (10 new), 168 active, three deaths
  • South Lethbridge – 970 cases (four new), 128 active, 21 deaths
• Brooks – 1,367 cases, three active, 14 deaths
• Cardston County – 770 cases (10 new), 74 active, 13 deaths
• Lethbridge County – 662 cases (seven new), 103 active, eight deaths
• Medicine Hat – 575 cases (one new), 11 active, 17 deaths
• M.D. of Taber – 382 cases (14 new), 40 active, six deaths
• M.D. of Pincher Creek – 244 cases, 20 active, five deaths
• County of Warner – 179 cases (one new), nine active, three deaths
• County of Newell – 162 cases, two active, two deaths
• Cypress County – 147 cases, one active, zero deaths
