LETHBRIDGE, AB – A couple of Lethbridge schools have shifted to online learning due to COVID-19.

The Lethbridge School Division said Sunday that a number of positive cases have been identified at Galbraith Elementary School. As a result, multiple staff members and students are in isolation.

With the number of staff required to be in quarantine, the division, in consultation with the Ministry of Education, has moved the school to Scenario 3 (at-home learning).

As of today, March 29, all classes at Galbraith will take place online, and this will last until the Easter break.

In addition to Galbraith, the Lethbridge School Division – on consultation with the Ministry of Education – has moved all classes at Winston Churchill High School to Scenario 3.

All classes will be online until the Easter break.

“The school will use the online delivery platform. Attendance is mandatory and teachers will continue to provide quality learning opportunities for students,” the division said on its website, referring to both schools.

“The Division is aware moving to at-home learning with very short notice may cause significant pressure on families, and apologizes for the short notice. However, as mentioned, the Division needs to keep the health and safety of our students and staff at the forefront of decision-making.”

Further information is available at the Lethbridge School Division website.
