City reminding residents of RV rules in Lethbridge

Apr 1, 2021 | 2:23 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB– As the weather starts to warm up, the City of Lethbridge is reminding its residents of rules surrounding recreational vehicles (RV), trailer, and tent trailer parking.

“You can park RVs on the driveway or in the backyard of your personal residence if space allows.”

“You cannot park an RV so that any part of it hangs over or encroaches on a sidewalk, curb, or road,” the release reads.

The city says residents can temporarily park an RV on the street directly in front or beside their residence for up to 48 hours only.

After 48 hours of parking the RV on the street, it must be moved off the road for at least 36 consecutive hours before it can be parked there again.

If an RV is parked on a driveway or on the street, the RV cannot extend its slideouts.

“You can briefly position your RV in a lane or alleyway while you are in the process of loading or unloading it. You can’t block the passage for other vehicles while it is there, and you have to move it out of the lane or alleyway once you have finished,” the release reads.

The city says if you don’t have enough space to park your RV in your backyard or on your driveway without overhanging or encroaching on the sidewalk, there are other options.
