Apr 5, 2021 | 3:19 PM

TORONTO, ON– Sobeys, Couche-Tard, Circle K, Metro Inc., and Tim Hortons were among the 15 brands that received F grades in the toxic chemical report card.

The report done by Retailer Report Card gave the five companies their respective grade for handling toxic chemicals in the workplace.

Other companies that received F’s were Starbucks, Burger King, Popeyes, Subway, 7-Eleven, Nordstrom, Ace Hardware, Sally Beauty, 99 Cents Only, and Publix.

In the report, it’s outlined that these companies have not taken action to address these reports and companies like Tim Hortons need to give out the information publically.

The toxic chemicals the report is talking about are how the food is handled and any additives that the company may put in it.

When talking about Subway, the report outlines the following:

“Despite substantial public attention to toxic indirect food additives, including PFAS, phthalates, and bisphenols as well as to plastics of environmental health concern (PEHCs), there is no indication that Subway is taking action to address these challenges.”

The report wants Tim Hortons to “set public quantifiable goals with clear timelines to eliminate and safely replace other plastics of environmental health concern in its packaging and any toxic indirect food additives that may be in food contact materials.”

Companies with the highest grades were Apple, Target, and Whole Foods.
