33 new COVID cases in Lethbridge Monday, 1,136 provincially

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released its update on COVID-19 for Monday, covering statistics compiled over the past 24 hours.

1,136 cases were confirmed, bringing the total to 162,038. Of those, 14,849 cases are active while 145,171 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, 58 people tested positive including 33 in Lethbridge.

Active infections in the city rose by eight.

Since yesterday’s update, four people from the Edmonton Zone died from COVID with an additional death in the central zone, meaning the virus has now claimed the lives of 2,018 in Alberta.

Provincially, 390 patients are currently hospitalized including 90 who have been admitted to intensive care.

With another 12,286 tests conducted over the past day, there has now been a total of 3,861,430 tests completed on 1,953,019 different people.

847,630 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta as of the end of April 9.

Since yesterday’s report, 679 cases of COVID-19 variants were confirmed.

Below is a breakdown of cases per regional health zone:

• Calgary Zone – 63,741 cases, 6,802 active
  • 153 in hospital, 42 in ICU
  • 614 deaths
• Edmonton Zone – 60,426 cases, 3,688 active
  • 126 in hospital, 27 in ICU
  • 1,023 deaths (four new)
• North Zone – 15,873 cases, 1,970 active
  • 37 in hospital, four in ICU
  • 150 deaths
• Central Zone – 12,774 cases, 1,311 active
  • 39 in hospital, seven in ICU
  • 124 deaths (one new)
• South Zone – 8,972 cases, 949 active
  • 35 in hospital, 10 in ICU
  • 107 deaths

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone:

• Lethbridge – 3,623 cases (33 new), 506 active, 30 deaths
  • North Lethbridge – 1,229 cases (seven new), 120 active, six deaths
  • West Lethbridge – 1,276 cases (20 new), 251 active, three deaths
  • South Lethbridge – 1,118 cases (six new), 135 active, 21 deaths
• Brooks – 1,370 cases, three active, 14 deaths
• Cardston County – 837 cases (one new), 45 active, 15 deaths
• Lethbridge County – 794 cases (eight new), 113 active, eight deaths
• Medicine Hat – 672 cases (seven new), 94 active, 17 deaths
• M.D. of Taber – 443 cases (three new), 49 active, six deaths
• M.D. of Pincher Creek – 262 cases, 17 active, five deaths
• County of Warner – 214 cases (five new), 30 active, three deaths
• Cypress County – 175 cases (one new), 25 active, zero deaths
• Fort Macleod – 165 cases, 32 active, four deaths
• County of Newell – 169 cases (two new), seven active, two deaths
• County of Forty Mile – 133 cases, six active, three deaths
