Lethbridge man charged with drug trafficking offences

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Police have a man behind bars on allegations of drug trafficking.

Around 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 14, officers stopped a vehicle on the 1700 block of 23 Street North.

This follows an investigation into trafficking illegal substances.

LPS says they seized a loaded firearm and a conducted energy weapon, a device similar to a taser, that was masked as a flashlight.

They also found methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine worth about $1,600 along with paraphernalia including scales and packaging. A small amount of cash was also taken.

Wesley Johnson, 35, of Lethbridge, faces 28 charges including possession of a prohibited weapon, three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of the proceeds of crime.

He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
