Rent report: Lethbridge quite affordable among Canadian cities for renters

LETHBRIDGE, AB– In the National Rent Report for March, Lethbridge is still one of Canada’s most affordable cities.

Month over month the average rate of a one-bedroom rental in Lethbridge has barely dropped to $956 a month. The average two-bedroom rental is relatively flat month over month at $1,095 a month.

Lethbridge came in 32nd of all Canadian cities included in the report.

35 Canadian municipalities are included in the rent report. Below is the ranking of Alberta cities included in the report, from most expensive to least expensive:

    • One-bedroom: $1,213
    • Two-bedrooms: $1,471
  • Fort McMurray (28)
    • One-bedroom: $1,062
    • Two-bedrooms: $1,242
  • Edmonton (29)
    • One-bedroom: $998
    • Two-bedrooms: $1,220
  • Lethbridge (32)
    • One-bedroom: $956
    • Two-bedrooms: $1,095
  • Red Deer (30)
    • One-bedroom: $925
    • Two-bedrooms: $995
  • Grande Prairie (34)
    • One-bedroom: $897
    • Two-bedrooms: $1,089

Nationally, the average asking price for all properties listed on Rentals.ca last month $1,685 per month, down $157 or 8.5 per cent from $1,842 in March of last year.

Vancouver is still the most expensive city for renters in Canada looking for one-bedroom units ($1,932 per month on average) and two-bedroom units ($2,598 per month on average).
