38 new Covid cases in Lethbridge: South Zone cases lowest in province

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released its update on COVID-19 for Saturday (Apr 17), covering statistics compiled over the past 24 hours.

1,486 cases were confirmed across the province and 977 of those are variants. Total cases are now at 169,279. Of those, 11,307 cases are active while 149,935 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, 63 people tested positive with 38 in Lethbridge and seven each in Warner and Lethbridge Counties.

Three Albertans died from COVID since yesterday’s update, taking the total to 2,037 lives lost.

Provincially, 445 patients are currently hospitalized including 94 who have been admitted to intensive care. There have been an additional three deaths ( two in Edmonton Zone and one in the Calgary Zone), taking the total to 2,037.

With another 16,353 tests conducted over the past day, there is a positivity rate of 9.2%. There has now been a total of 3,939,690 tests completed on 1,975,657 different people.

1,082,391 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta as of the end of April 15.

  • 148 in hospital, 42 in ICU

• Edmonton Zone – 62,438 cases, 4,606 active
  • 148 in hospital, 33 in ICU
  • 1,030 deaths
• North Zone – 16,988 cases, 2,363 active
  • 30 in hospital, six in ICU
  • 150 deaths
• Central Zone – 13,612 cases, 1,734 active
  • 45 in hospital, four in ICU
  • 129 deaths
• South Zone – 9,301 cases, 924 active
  • 37 in hospital, nine in ICU
  • 110 deaths
