Canada secures Pfizer COVID vaccine supply beyond 2021

OTTAWA, ON – Canada has secured COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer for the next few years.

Minister of Public Services and Procurement Anita Anand announced on Friday that the country has netted a deal to acquire vaccines from the drug maker for 2022 and 2023, with options to extend into 2024.

The agreement guarantees access to 65 million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech’s vaccine, with access to up to 120 million more if all of the options are exercised.

As well as providing booster vaccine doses, the deal provides flexibility to procure future COVID-19 vaccine formulations from Pfizer, like those to protect against variants of concerns and vaccines developed for children.
