LETHBRIDGE, AB – The alleged actions of a member of Lethbridge Police Service is under investigation by the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT).

LPS says there was a search of the niche database on February 5, 2021. Niche RMS is a police records management system.

The local police force has suspended the officer in question with pay.

ASIRT is investigating the matter and LPS has also ordered an internal professional misconduct investigation.

“Improper access of such information is taken very seriously by the Lethbridge Police Service,” reads a media release from Lethbridge Police. “It was identified as an issue which needed to be addressed, and measures to prevent improper access of information were included in the action plan submitted to the Minister of Justice on April 13, 2021.”
