LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Exhibition Grounds have partnered with Lethbridge Lodging Association to showcase its newest event: the Southern Alberta Table.

The Southern Alberta Table will bring many different events into our city this summer, like BBQ competitions, an Amazing Race-style agricultural odyssey, and a harvest dinner with a celebrity chef.

“It’s going to be a fun summer for locals and visitors alike,” said Shilpa Stocker, project manager for the Lethbridge Lodging Association.

“The exceptional events of Southern Alberta Table will undoubtedly attract out-of-town visitors who will hopefully extend their stay and explore the wonderful restaurants and attractions the Lethbridge region has to offer.”

Kanas City Barbeque Society (KCBS), the largest BBQ organization in the world will be giving Lethbridge locals the chance to become certified judges for sanctioned BBQ events from June 19th to the 20th.

KCBS will also be making a stop in Lethbridge this summer on its BBQ Pro Circuit. The community is invited to attend the professional ‘Smoke, Wind, and Fire’ BBQ event and get some tips and tricks from grill masters. A local grill master backyard competition will also be taking place from July 10th to the 11th.

Celebrity chefs judging the ‘Smoke, Wind, and Fire’ competition come from Calgary’s acclaimed CHARCUT, John Jackson and Connie DeSousa. Guest Judge Devynn Bohn, from Hickory Street restaurant and food truck will also be taking part in the judging.

“We’re excited to show the world what’s on a Southern Alberta Table,” said Mike Warkentin, chief operating officer of Lethbridge & District Exhibition.

“There’s an exceptional demand for experiences that combine agriculture and tourism, and Lethbridge is ready to meet that demand this summer. Agritourism benefits the local economy on many levels.”

The Amazing Race-style event will require teams to travel across Southern Alberta, participating in judged challenges celebrating historic and modern agricultural practices. This VisitLethbridge.com Odyssey Experience will be happening from August 15 to 16.
