Canada’s emergency notification system to be tested Wednesday
LETHBRIDGE, AB – A test of the National Public Alerting System will take place later this week.
On Wednesday, May 5, Canadians in certain parts of the province will receive a notification on their phones, television, over the radio and other compatible mobile devices connected to a long-term evolution (LTE) or a newer wireless network (5G).
The system is used to notify Canadians of emergencies such as natural disasters and Amber Alerts.
Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Nunavut will not be a part of Wednesday’s test.
