LETHBRIDGE, AB – A Calgary man is behind bars after allegedly breaking and entering into several oil sites across the region.

In mid-April, the LPS Priority Crimes Unit and RCMP Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit started their investigation.

Thefts occurred in Vulcan, Diamond City, Welling, and Claresholm.

Over $85,000 worth of stolen property and damages were incurred at these sites.

RCMP says copper wire, metal signs, and break-in tools were recovered from the suspect’s vehicle.

Brian Edward Tanner, 44, of Calgary, was arrested on April 23.

He faces five counts of break and enter and one count each of possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of break-in instruments, and failure to comply.

Tanner was remanded into custody following a bail hearing.

He had his first appearance in Lethbridge Provincial Court on May 5 and will next be in Calgary Provincial Court on May 6.
