May 7, 2021 | 2:04 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB– Local vendors are ready to welcome shoppers back to this year’s markets.

The Lethbridge and District Exhibition annual Farmers’ Market is set to return on Saturday.

The market will open at 8:00 a.m. and run until 1:00 p.m., every Saturday until Oct. 8.

This year, the Saturday markets have partnered with UFA Co-operative Limited.

“We are excited to be supporting an initiative that helps farmers bring their products to market,” says Kimberly MacDonald, UFA Manager of Community Investment. “The UFA Saturday Farmers’ Market is an opportunity for the community of Lethbridge and area to support local, and enjoy fresh fruits, vegetables and much more.”

The market will be located in the UFA South Pavilion. Parking will be available in the south parking lot.

Exhibition Park is asking customers to plan ahead and shop with a purpose by using the Exhibitor Map.

All visitors and exhibitors are asked to follow COVID-19 rules. Capacity will be controlled at the entrances based on the number of guests in the market. Staff will also be stationed at the exits to count the number of guests leaving.

All visitors and exhibitors are required to wear a mask or face shield for the duration of their visit. If you are unable to wear a mask, you are asked to inform event staff upon your arrival.

Exhibition Park staff are asking customers to refrain from touching items, minimizing the handling of cash whenever possible, and frequent handing washing and/or sanitizing.

DOWNTOWN WEDNESDAY MARKET

If you’re looking to attend the downtown market, you will have to wait a little while longer. The Downtown Lethbridge BRZ 15th annual Farmers’ Market is slated to open on July 7 and run until Sept. 15.

This year’s market will be located at 2nd Ave South between 4th Street and 5th Street each Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

All visitors and exhibitors of the outdoor market will be required to follow the COVID-19 rules listed above.

In addition to hosting local vendors, this year’s market has partnered with Stirling-based Hickory Street BBQ, who will serve as the official ‘pit master’ at both farmers’ markets. The full story can be found here.
