All Albertans aged 12 and up now eligible for COVID-19 vaccine

EDMONTON, AB– 68 per cent of Albertans are now eligible to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Last week, eligibility expanded to Albertans aged 30 or older. As of Monday, May 10, that has grown to encompass everyone in the province at least 12 years or older (born in 2009 to 1992).

They can get receive an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer and Moderna).

With this expansion, the province says 3.8 million Albertans will become eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.

“This is a very exciting day for Alberta and it arrives right when we need it the most. We are battling an extremely aggressive third wave of COVID-19 and we know that vaccines are our best weapon against it. By opening bookings to everybody over 12 years of age, we are taking a huge step towards stopping the spike and hopefully putting this pandemic behind us for good,” says Premier Jason Kenney.

Kenney also added that the two different age groups were separated so that the booking tool online doesn’t get overwhelmed.
