Man charged after vehicle collison leads to seizure of drugs, weapons

LETHBRIDGE, AB– The Lethbridge Police Service has charged a Coaldale man with drug, weapons, and driving-related charges.

An LPS Community Peace Officer was stopped in traffic on Highway 3 and 28 Street around 6:20 p.m. on Sunday, May 9.

While stopped, he observed a vehicle rear-ended another. The CPO was able to pull over one of the vehicles, while the other left the scene.

Patrol units responded to assist and located the vehicle abandoned in the 2900-block of 2 A Avenue South.

The man was arrested a short distance away, where police seized three weapons, and 28.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine valued at $1,700.

Daniel Edward Collier, 43, of Coaldale, has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, assault with a weapon, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and mischief.

Collier will remain in custody while awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
