“The Last of Us” filming in Southern Alberta this summer, extras needed

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A highly-anticipated HBO series is set to start shooting in the region this summer, and you could be part of it.

Keep Alberta Rolling posted to social media over the weekend, announcing a casting call for extras for the adaptation of The Last of Us.

The series is based on an award-winning pair of video games of the same name, the first of which was released for the Playstation 3 in 2013.

It follows Joel Miller, to be portrayed by Pedro Pascal, escorting a teenager named Ellie, played by Bella Ramsey, through a post-apocalyptic wasteland in search of a cure to a fungal infestation.

The production company will be looking for a wide array of adult extras as well as vehicles made between the years of 1995-2003.

Shooting is set to begin in July, taking place in areas such as Lethbridge, Fort Macleod, High River, and the surrounding areas.

The Last of Us is being produced by Sony Pictures Television and video game developer Naughty Dog.

A release date has not been confirmed but rumours speculate it is set to come out in either late 2021 or early 2022.

LNN has reached out to the casting agency and Sony Pictures for an interview.
