STANDOFF, AB – Members of the Blood Tribe now have a significant supply of face shields thanks to Indigena Capital and Mark’s Work Warehouse.

The groups are delivering 184,000 of them to Standoff, the first of which arrived on Friday.

Supplies are now being distributed among the tribes within the Blackfoot Confederacy, Treaty 7, and some areas in Saskatchewan.

Blood Tribe Chief Roy Fox and Senior Executive Officer Rick Soup accepted the shipment of face shields.

About 90,000 of them will go to the Blood Tribe, which will be prioritized on school-aged children.

More details about the distribution of face shields will be announced over the next week.

Cardston County, which encompasses much of the Blood Tribe, has 76 active COVID-19 cases as of May 13.

This gives the area an active case rate of 462.5 per 100,000 people, the fourth-highest in the South Zone behind the County of Warner, Lethbridge County, and the M.D. of Willow Creek.
