Lethbridge man killed in collision near Nobleford

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Coaldale RCMP are investigating a fatal head-on collision Friday morning.

At approximately 4:00 am, an older white Dodge Dakota truck travelling south and a northbound semi-truck hauling pipes collided on Highway 23 south of the Nobleford traffic circle.

The driver, a 20-year-old man from Lethbridge, was the lone occupant of the Dodge Dakota.

He was pronounced deceased on the scene. His name will not be released.

The family of the victim has been notified.

The driver of the semi and a passenger were shaken up but not injured.

Traffic on Highway 3 has been diverted for several hours as an RCMP traffic deconstructionist worked to investigate the circumstances.

According to RCMP, the early investigation indicates that charges are not likely.

The highway reopened just before 2:00 pm.

The Calgary Medical Examiners’ Office has been notified and is working with RCMP.
