10 new COVID cases in Lethbridge Sunday, 563 provincially

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released its update on COVID-19 for Sunday, covering statistics compiled over the past 24 hours.

563 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 224,195. Of those, 14,533 cases are active while 207,486 people have recovered.

273 cases, or about 48 per cent of today’s total, were variants.

In the South Zone, 39 people tested positive with 10 in Lethbridge.

Since yesterday’s update, six Albertans died from COVID. To date, 2,176 Albertans have died as a result of the virus.

Provincially, 581 patients are currently hospitalized including 162 who have been admitted to intensive care.

With another 6,944 tests conducted over the past day, there has now been a total of 4,477,321 tests completed on 2,129,769 different people.

2,506,919 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta as of the end of May 22. A map of vaccine distribution in the province can be viewed here.

Below is a breakdown of cases per health zone:

• Calgary Zone – 91,088 cases, 6,360 active
  • 225 in hospital, 56 in ICU
  • 659 deaths (five new)
• Edmonton Zone – 75,907 cases, 3,562 active
  • 199 in hospital, 71 in ICU
  • 1,068 deaths (one new)
• North Zone – 25,306 cases, 2,278 active
  • 66 in hospital, 15 in ICU
  • 172 deaths
• Central Zone – 19,758 cases, 1,573 active
  • 52 in hospital, 11 in ICU
  • 151 deaths
• South Zone – 12,113 cases, 753 active
  • 39 in hospital, nine in ICU
  • 126 deaths

• Lethbridge – 4,738 cases (10 new), 210 active, 37 deaths
  • West Lethbridge – 1,723 cases (three new), 88 active, three deaths
  • North Lethbridge – 1,594 cases (two new), 62 active, 10 deaths
  • South Lethbridge – 1,420 cases (five new), 60 active, 24 deaths
• Brooks – 1,479 cases (four new), 43 active, 15 deaths
• Lethbridge County – 1,216 cases (four new), 100 active, 12 deaths
• Medicine Hat – 1,192 cases (eight new), 133 active, 20 deaths
• Cardston County – 1,011 cases, 52 active, 17 deaths
• M.D. of Taber – 566 cases (two new), 26 active, six deaths
• County of Warner – 446 cases (two new), 40 active, three deaths
• M.D. of Pincher Creek – 301 cases, 18 active, five deaths
• Fort Macleod – 312 cases (two new), 26 active, five deaths
• Cypress County – 278 cases (three new), 34 active, zero deaths
• County of Newell – 219 cases (five new), 28 active, two deaths
• County of Forty Mile – 155 cases, two active, three deaths
• Crowsnest Pass – 82 cases (one new), 18 active, one death
