Downtown Lethbridge paid parking back in effect June 7

LETHBRIDGE, AB – As of Monday, June 7, you’ll have to pay for parking in downtown Lethbridge again.

Earlier last month, parking in the downtown was made free to citizens.

Starting today, June 1, parking enforcement officials will be issuing notices reminders motorists that paid parking is set to resume next week. The city notes these are only reminder notices and NOT violation notices. Other offences, like complaints and parking around accessible stalls and fire hydrants, will continue to be enforced.

The city says it will continue to update messaging regarding parking operations as it comes available, but for now, paid parking is set to resume in the downtown area on June 7.

In a release, the city noted that “time-controlled paid parking provides consistent ebb and flow of visitors to businesses by providing access to parking stalls for customers.”

Officials say the intent it always to provide assistance to customers, staff and businesses in downtown Lethbridge.
