LPS recover stolen vehicles, three arrested

LETHBRIDGE, AB- The Lethbridge Police Service Priority Crimes Unit arrested three individuals and recovered two stolen vehicles on Monday, May 31.

Police spotted a truck matching the description of a vehicle stolen earlier in the day from the 300-block of Leaside Avenue South.

The Priority Crimes Unit (PCU) and Crime Suppression Team (CST) began watching the vehicle before conducting a traffic stop, where two people were arrested in the 2600-block of 16 Avenue South.

Michael Dean Mckie, 52, of Strathmore has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, six counts of failure to comply with release orders conditions, and one count under the Traffic Safety Act of driving without insurance. Dean Mckie was remanded in custody to appear in court on June 2.

The passenger, Kristlyn Nichole Healy, 34, of Coalhurst was charged with possession of a controlled substance and failure to comply with a probation order. Nichole Healy is scheduled to appear in court on July 27.

In a separate incident on Monday, LPS observed a vehicle that was reportedly stolen out of Calgary. Both the PCU and CST units, along with Blood Tribe Police and RCMP attempted to stop the vehicle but were unsuccessful.

A short time later, LPS were able to pull over the vehicle near Picture Butte where one man was arrested.

Darcy Red Crow, 45, of Lethbridge was charged with 11 offences, including two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. Red Crow is still awaiting a bail hearing.
