410 new COVID cases provincially, six in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released Wednesday’s report on COVID-19, covering statistics compiled over the last 24 hours.

410 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 228,128. Of those, 6,305 cases are active while 219,592 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, 18 people tested positive with six in Lethbridge.

Active infections in Lethbridge are down by five and regionally by 27.

Since yesterday’s update, four Albertans died from COVID, meaning 2,231 Albertans have died as a result of the virus. There were no new COVID deaths in the South Zone.

An emailed statement from AHS says there were four new deaths in the province but we can only account for three new deaths.

Provincially, 435 patients are currently hospitalized including 122 who have been admitted to intensive care.

With another 8,315 tests conducted over the past day, there has now been a total of 4,539,671 tests completed on 2,145,642 different people.

2,841,779 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered as of the end of June 1.

Below is a breakdown of cases per health zone in Alberta:

  • Calgary Zone – 92,712 cases, 2,583 active
    • 170 in hospital, 46 in ICU
    • 678 deaths (one new)
  • Edmonton Zone – 76,924 cases, 1,647 active
    • 139 in hospital, 47 in ICU
    • 1,085 deaths (one new)
  • North Zone – 25,828 cases, 883 active
    • 43 in hospital, 12 in ICU
    • 181 deaths
  • Central Zone – 20,297 cases, 788 active
    • 53 in hospital, 11 in ICU
    • 157 deaths (one new)
  • South Zone – 12,352 cases, 403 active
    • 30 in hospital, six in ICU
    • 130 deaths

  • Lethbridge – 4,811 cases (six new), 113 active, 38 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 1,763 cases (two new), 54 active, three deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 1,605 cases (two new), 24 active, 11 deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 1,442 cases (two new), 35 active, 24 deaths
  • Brooks – 1,491 cases (two new), 28 active, 15 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 1,243 cases (three new), 36 active, 12 deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 1,231 cases (three new), 77 active, 22 deaths
  • Cardston County – 1,026 cases (three new), 19 active, 17 deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 570 cases, nine active, six deaths
  • County of Warner – 463 cases, 30 active, three deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 305 cases (one new), six active, five deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 319 cases, 11 active, six deaths
  • Cypress County – 296 cases (two new), 28 active, zero deaths
