Re-opening dates for Lethbridge facilities announced for Stage 2 of Alberta’s “Open for Summer Plan”

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The City of Lethbridge has provided an update on the opening dates for certain facilities as Stage 2 of the province’s “Open for Summer Plan” approaches.

Barring any changes, here is a breakdown of opening dates residents can look forward to.

ARENAS

The ATB Centre is scheduled to re-open on Thursday, June 10 and will stay open for the summer. Community group bookings and private bookings can be made by email at leisure@lethbridge.ca or by calling 311.

Public skating at the ATB Centre will resume Monday, June 14. The public skating schedule will be back online on Friday, June 11 here, where residents can review the available times and book a slot. Payment will be made when citizens enter the facility for their booked time.

SPRAY PARKS

Gyro Spray Park and the Rotary Centennial Fountain are set to open on Thursday, June 10.

Gyro Spray Park is located behind Nicholas Sheran Arena and is free of charge for all users. It’s open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., weather permitting.

The Rotary Centennial Fountain is located in Galt Gardens, on the corner of 3 Avenue S. and 7 Street S. Use is free and the fountain is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., weather permitting.

Signs will be in place to indicate the hours of use and washroom availability. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own hand sanitizer and maintain physical distancing from other users at both parks.

POOLS AND RECREATION CENTRES

Pools managed by Recreation Excellence will re-open in a phased approach to provide time for staffing, training and adjustments required to meet Stage 2 provincial public health guidelines.

  • Stan Siwik Pool is set to re-open on Thursday, June 10
  • Henderson Outdoor Pool is tentatively scheduled to open in late June

The City of Lethbridge stated that as demand for aquatics increases, re-opening dates for Nicholas Sheran Pool and Fritz Sick Pool will be announced.
