Hurricanes receive second overall pick in 2021 US Priority Draft

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes will pick second in the 2021 US Priority Draft.

The Seattle Thunderbirds received the first overall pick for the December 8 draft. In addition to their second-overall pick, the Hurricanes also received the 43rd selection in the draft lottery.

The ‘Canes drafted two players at the inaugural US Prospects Draft in 2020 when they selected Nathan Tobey 10th overall and Riley Bassen 35th overall.

The US Prospects Draft will occur a day before the WHL Prospects Draft, in which the Hurricanes have the 17th overall selection.

The first-round order of selection for the 2021 US Priority Draft is as follows:

3) Winnipeg ICE

4) Prince George Cougars

5) Saskatoon Blades

6) Swift Current Broncos

7) Tri-City Americans

8) Red Deer Rebels

9) Victoria Royals

12) Regina Pats

13) Brandon Wheat Kings

14) Everett Silvertips

15) Kelowna Rockets

16) Spokane Chiefs

17) Edmonton Oil Kings
