RCMP investigating suspicious deaths in Coaldale

Jun 4, 2021 | 4:12 PM

COALDALE, AB– Coaldale RCMP found two locals dead in their home on June 3.

RCMP conducted a wellbeing check on a residence in Coaldale after their neighbours hadn’t seen any activity in a “significant amount of time.”

A locksmith then helped RCMP into the home, finding a man and woman “in a state of decomposition,” the release reads.

RCMP said the deaths are believed to be suspicious.

Alberta’s Major Crimes Unit is taking charge of the investigation with the assistance of the Coaldale RCMP along with the Forensic Identification Services Unit.

Though the deaths were deemed suspicious, this incident is believed to be “isolated” and there is no danger to the public.

An autopsy will be undertaken on the two bodies after June 6 at the Calgary Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

RCMP says further updates will be provided when additional information becomes available.
