LETHBRIDGE, AB – Vaccine distribution is ramping up across Alberta so we thought we would take a look at how local communities in Southern Alberta are faring.

As of the end of the day on June 6, Alberta Health Services reports that 3,084,119 doses of COVID-19 vaccine had been administered province-wide.

Across Alberta, 66.7 per cent of the population aged 12 years or older have received at least one dose, while 14.3 per cent of those in that age category is fully vaccinated.

Approximately 56 per cent of those shots were given out by Alberta Health Services so far. Pharmacies handled 41.6 per cent of vaccines while the remaining 2.6 per cent were from “other” sources such as First Nation communities or physician clinics.

One of the two criteria for lifting COVID restrictions under Alberta’s new “Open for Summer Plan” is tied to vaccinations, with the third and final stage being achieved when at least 70 per cent of Albertans have gotten at least one dose.
