Grab & Go Pick Up returns at Lethbridge Public Library June 16

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Public Library is reopening some more of its services.

Beginning June 16, the library will return to offering Grab & Go Pick Up as well as its limited Computer Services access, and updated Curbside Pick Up hours.

In a release, the library stated that, “our goal is to continue to meet community needs and provide as much service as we can, provided we are doing so safely; however, an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present.”

“Restrictions put in place, and services provided, may change based on the evolving situation, and will be reviewed on a regular basis.”

The release continued, “our provision of services has been, and will remain, consistent with the direction and guidance of public health authorities, the Government of Alberta, and the City of Lethbridge.”

Below is a breakdown of the hours of operation starting June 16.

Main (downtown) Branch:

  • Monday-Tuesday 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Wednesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
  • Sunday 1 p.m.-5 p.m.

Crossings Branch

  • Monday-Wednesday 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
  • Thursday-Friday 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Saturday 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
  • Sunday 1 p.m.-5 p.m.

Curbside Pick Up hours at both branches will return to:

  • Monday-Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Sunday 1 p.m.-4 p.m.

Hours for the Bookmobile will vary. Updates can be found here.

The library says for the health and safety of staff and customers, building access will be limited to:

  • Main Branch: Children’s Services Desk & Computer Services area
  • Crossings Branch: Customer Services Desk & some Computer Stations
  • Bookmobile will be available for Curbside Pick Up only

At this time, there will be no access to browse collections and building access will be limited to one adult per family. Customers are encouraged to use the Curbside Pick Up service when visiting in groups. Streaming and online programming will continue, and donations of used books/materials will not be accepted. Room bookings are also not available at this time.

Expiring library memberships can be renewed by calling 403-380-7330 (Main Branch), 403-320-4037 (Crossings Branch) or by visiting a branch.

BORROWING AND RETURNS

There will be two ways to access materials:

  • Curbside Pick Up will remain operational at all branches
  • Grab & Go Pick Up will be available at the Main and Crossings branches where customers can stop a designated area of the branch to pick up their pre-ordered materials.

Curbside and Grab & Go Pick Up instructions will be forthcoming at the library’s website.

Additionally, materials can be returned to the:

  • Main Branch – book return located at the Children’s entrance (south end of the parking lot)
  • Crossings Branch – book return located at the South entrance (Britannia Blvd. W.). During operational hours, a second book drop off is available at the north end of the atrium.

COMPUTER ACCESS

Limited computer use access will be available at the Main and Crossings branches and limited to 45-minute sessions. They will run on the hour starting at 10 a.m. and end one hour before closing. Access to these areas will be limited to 10 customers per sessions at the Main Branch and five customers per session at the Crossings Branch.

Interne on the Go and Printing on the Go services are also available at the Main branch.

Additional re-opening of services will be considered after an evaluation period and will be dependent upon the local COVID-19 situation and the ability of the Lethbridge Public Library to operate within current public health guidelines.
