The 2003-born player comes to Lethbridge via the Victoria Royals, in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft, along with a seventh and eighth round picks in the 2022 draft and the playing rights to 2004-born forward Chase LaPinta.

18-year-old Bentham was originally drafted by Victoria 13th overall in the first round of the 2018 WHL Prospects Draft. The d-man from Victoria, B.C. has appeared in 52 games with the Royals, totalling three points (one goal and two assists), along with 16 penalty minutes. During the shortened 2020-2021 WHL season, Bentham did not appear in any games for the Royals.

He represented Canada at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in 2019, where he collected three assists in five games with Canada-Black. Bentham also spent two seasons with the Yale Hockey Academy prior to joining the Royals, where he totaled 40 points (12 goals, 28 assists) with 56 penalty minutes in two seasons at the Under-15 and Under-18 levels.

With the addition of Bentham, the ‘Canes now have nine 2003-born players on their projected WHL roster for next season, including Briley Wood, Zack Stringer, Ty Nash, Salvatore Collora, Chase Pauls, Joe Arntsen, Kayden Sadhra-Kang and Jared Picklyk.
