Charges pending in car-semi collision on 43 Street South

LETHBRIDGE, AB – LPS continue to investigate Tuesday afternoon’s serious collision on 43 Street South.

Charges are pending after Lethbridge Police responded to a motor vehicle collision on June 15, 2021, which sent three people to hospital and closed a major thoroughfare for several hours.

Shortly before 2:00-pm, a car and a semi-truck collided at the South Parkside Drive South intersection.

Acting Sgt. of the LPS Traffic Response Unit Brent Paxman confirmed one person suffered major injuries.

Police says “the car suffered extensive damage and three occupants were transported to hospital, including the 68-year-old driver.”

The 68-year-old passenger is listed in serious but stable condition.

Information released later in the evening indicated one occupant of the car was transported to Calgary by Stars Air Ambulance, while two other occupants were treated for minor injures at Chinook Regional Hospital.

43 Street South was blocked off by police in both the north and south directions. Southbound motorist were redirected onto W.T. Hill Blvd S.

The 43 Street artery was not fully re-opened until after 10:00-pm.
